Skaters Edge Ltd was opened in June 1997 by Adrian Florence who had spent over 50 years in ice skating. Adrian was a former British Junior ice skating champion in both free and dance disciplines. In 1968 he turned professional and taught for the next 16 years at the Altrincham ice rink. Adrian moved to Gillingham in Kent as the General Manager of the hugely successful Ice Bowl. In 1996 he opened the Romford Ice rink again as general manager. He moved to Humberside in 1988 to open the council’s Olympic sized Ice Arena. At all three of these rinks Adrian opened and operated the shops and also started the ice hockey teams The Medway Bears, Romford Raiders and the Humberside Seahawks.
In September 2012, Adrian retired from Skaters Edge and former hockey player Nick Wilkinson and International Figure Skater Connor Wilkinson took over the business.
Connor and Nick have an extensive knowledge of all branches of skating and believe that the service provided at Skaters Edge is second to none. Whether it be figure, dance, hockey, syncro or indeed in-line skating Skaters Edge always do their best to satisfy their customers.
Assisting Connor and Nick is Adrian Jack who has years of experience in both figure skating & ice hockey.
Another valued member of the Skaters Edge team is Joanne Stone. Joanne’s knowledge is specialised mainly in Figure Skating although is happy to answer any questions you may have.
Services offered by Skaters Edge in the fully fitted workshop are skate regrinding to both hockey and figure skates on two dedicated grinding machines, blades re-riveting and general equipment repairs.
